Happy New Year beautiful people! Thought I should start the new year by giving some book recommendations.
I know it’s that time of the year when everyone is thinking of ways to improve themselves. Some make new year resolutions while others do not bother, since they are going to break them anyways. However, there’s one thing we are all trying to do, we are trying to be better, and I think reading books is a great way to start. If you do not like reading, you can listen to audiobooks, just try to not sleep off.
As your go to girl for motivation, I have come up with a list of books that will make you laugh, cry and even scream. Ultimately they will help you become a better you.
The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho “People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.”
The Richest Man in Babylon – George S. Clarkson “I found the road to wealth when I decided that a part of all I earned was mine to keep. And so will you.”
Who Moved my Cheese – Spencer Johnson “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?”
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck – Mark Manson “Often the only difference between a problem being painful or being powerful is a sense that we chose it, and that we are responsible for it”
How to Win Friends and Influence People – Dale Carnegie “Actions speak louder than words. A smile says, ‘I like you. I am glad to see you.”
The Handmaid’s Tale – Margaret Atwood “There is more than one kind of freedom,” said Aunt Lydia. “Freedom to and freedom from. In the days of anarchy, it was freedom to. Now you are being given freedom from. Don’t underrate it.”
The Art of War – Sun Tzu “Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.”
The Idiot -Fyodor Dostoevsky “One can’t understand everything at once, we can’t begin with perfection all at once! In order to reach perfection one must begin by being ignorant of a great deal. And if we understand things too quickly, perhaps we shan’t understand them thoroughly”
Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen “There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.”
29, Single and Nigerian -Naijasinglegirl “All I saw in those pages was a frightened girl who spent her teenage years living as an adult and her adult years trying to grow up”
