The year 2020 has been a challenging year, filled with different challenges, one right after another with no delay. We can undoubtedly say it has been challenging for everyone. As we try to navigate this difficult time, now more than ever would the best time to educate ourselves, strengthen our minds, and increase our resistance. To help with this, I have compiled a list of books that we can read to help us navigate this difficult period. Some can be read daily as devotionals, while others are great stories that will remind us of our strength and catalyze our awakening.
Written by Rhonda Byrne is a book that encourages positive thinking and optimism. The Secret’s primary principle is the law of attraction. If you ask for what you want, believe in what you want, and are open to receiving it, the universe would bring your desires to you. It says we become our most dominant thought since our thoughts create our reality. However you want to look at it, there’s no harm in being optimistic.
In the Reality Transurfing series, The Space of Variations is my favorite. At first, it wasn’t easy to understand what the book was about, but after the first chapter, it became enjoyable, practical, and I dare say, transformative. The idea of pendulums and excessive potentials was something I had never heard before. Reality Transurfing is not based on one law like The Secret, the law of cause and effect. It is about several universal laws that control balance and harmony. According to Vadim Zeland, an intense desire for something is a clear indication of lack as we most often only desire what we do not have. I had so many ah and hmm moments while reading it.
The Four Agreements
The Four Agreements: Be impeccable with your word, Don’t take anything personally. Don’t make assumptions. Always do your best. These four simple principles can bring clarity, joy, and peace into your life. They can improve the general quality of your life by reducing stress and negative emotions. It is easy to understand but requires practice.
The New Earth
Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth is about enjoying the abundance of life by destroying the source of all conflict, the ego, which can be achieved by the awakening of one’s consciousness and the destruction of illusions. It gained more popularity after Oprah did a review of it.
The Art of Happiness
According to The Dalai Lama, we all can find happiness, it is a noble desire, but we truncate the process by accepting our superficial beliefs as the truth. Bear in mind that The Art of Happiness was not written by the Dalai Lama, but a psychiatrist who interviewed the Dalai Lama and went on to relate the Dalai Lama’s teachings with western science. Notwithstanding, it is still a great read. The Dalai Lama is skillful at making complex issues simple.
Until Today is the devotional you never knew you needed. It was written for everyone covering every aspect of life; every month deals with a different issue – love, forgiveness, faith, etc. There’s something for everyone, even if all you need is support and encouragement for the day.
